Beating the Holiday BULGE!
They say on average, Americans will gain anywhere between 2 and 10 pounds between Thanksgiving and New Years this year. With all of the delicious holiday meals and desserts and lack of time to exercise it’s no wonder why we always set the New Years Resolution to shed a few pounds in the up coming year.
Here are a few tips to beat the holiday bulge this year.
We can attribute a good portion of the weight gain to all of the additional calories we’ll be taking in, but we also need to take into consideration the STRESS that comes with organizing parties, spending time with family and traveling. Stress is a major component to weight gain. That being said, here are a few stress relieving tips;
Tip #1 - Don’t over schedule yourself. Trying to make it to every holiday function, hosting parties, shopping, preparing meals, wrapping presents, etc can lead to high stress and anxiety levels. Pace yourself
Tip #2 - Be sure to exercise. We realize you’ll be strapped for time this holiday season. Plan your workouts in advance and shave some time by using interval training techniques.
Tip #3 – Have a healthy meal or Nuts for Protein Shake before heading out to a party. Of course, we have to find ways to combat overeating. We always suggest eating a healthy meal or having a delicious Nuts for Protein shake before attending a party. This will leave you feeling full and satisfied so you can eat responsibly at these parties.
Use these three tips and we promise you’ll be able to enjoy the holidays and not regret the weight gain from the season.
